Elle, Hugo Boss Celebrate Women in Washington

No member of the U.S. Supreme Court enjoys more pop culture cachet at the moment than Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She is the subject of a popular impression by Kate McKinnon on “Saturday Night Live” and she is routinely referred to as the “Notorious R.B.G.” by her legions of fans on social media. On Wednesday night, a few days after her 82nd birthday, Ginsburg seemed in good spirits at German ambassador Peter Wittig’s home in Washington, D.C. She did not offer any signature “Ginsburns” from SNL as she was surrounded by a few of those fans — Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Nicole Wallace of “The View,” politico Heather Podesta and Elle editor in chief Robbie Myers, who included the justice in the magazine’s annual Women in Washington power list alongside D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and TV’s Gwen Ifill. “I don’t do many of these kinds of events,’’ said Dorothy McAuliffe, wife of Virginia governor Terry. “But when they told me Justice Ginsburg was in the group, I was thrilled to participate.’’ The governor, who came to support his wife, also found time to get some business done and meet various diplomats. “Twenty four ambassadors so far,’’ he crowed. `”It’s all about trade.’’
