New York-based Hallie Sara showed a deft hand turning leather, fur and shearling into polished, versatile sportswear for women and men. She muted the sporty, sexy vibe from her previous women’s collection, replacing skintight dresses and leggings with demure peplum jackets, shifts, wide-leg trousers, capes and silk blouses with neck ties. Except for a whimsical print used in the lining of the capes, she stuck with solid tan, black, cream and gray, which she color-blocked for visual variety. Presenting men’s for the first time in Los Angeles, she offered tried-and-true silhouettes such as track jackets, straight-front tab trousers and aviator styles in dark neutral hues like black and chocolate brown.
