Fourteen years ago, Nick Arrojo opened his first salon in SoHo with just six chairs and four hairdressers. He’s come a long way. This spring, he’s expanding his downtown footprint with two new outposts, one in Williamsburg and the other in TriBeCa. “For me, the most emerging market in New York City is Williamsburg,” Arrojo said. “As far as TriBeCa is concerned, we’re expanding our education component because we’re an education culture company.” In April, the Williamsburg salon, which is 3,300 square feet, will be the first to open complete with 32 chairs offering the full spectrum of Arrojo services. The 12,500-square-foot TriBeCa location will open in May, consisting of 16 chairs and an education center for hairdressers to learn Arrojo’s craft or to polish their skills. “When I moved downtown, I realized it’s a very creative melting pot of people, and staying downtown, you’ll have similar types,” he said. “We’re not chasing the Madison Avenue type of clientele, we’re not chasing anybody.” Meanwhile, Arrojo will continue to grow his product assortment, which is currently sold in 300 salons. “I tend to find that hairdressers are the ones who can truly recommend professional products to clients,” Arrojo said. “At this stage of the game, we’re building my
