California dreaming: Eyewear brand Illesteva is headed west. The label will open its first West Coast boutique in Venice on April 7. The 650-square-foot store will stand at 1329 Abbot Kinney inside a historic 1950s building. It is the label’s second freestanding unit, adding to its existing downtown New York store. “I think Venice has incredible food, awesome stores, and most importantly, amazing people,” Illesteva chief executive officer Daniel Silberman said of the brand’s decision to settle in the LA neighborhood. “We plan on opening 3 more stores on the west coast by the end of 2016,” he added. The Venice space is outfitted with handmade furniture from downtown-LA producer Patch Designs. In addition to stocking Illesteva’s full range of accessories, the store will also include a “build your own” station where shoppers can customize their own pair of frames.
