Altchek MD Coming to Kohl’s, Harmon Stores

The beauty field continues to get more competitive as witnessed by the addition of upscale skin care in new doors. A case in point is the expansion of derm brand Altchek MD into Kohl’s department stores and Harmon/Bed Bath & Beyond. This month, Altchek MD will roll out to 1,100 Kohl’s and 275 Harmon stores including freestanding Harmon stores or shops within Bed Bath & Beyond. The two new chains join Ulta Beauty, which has had the exclusive rights to the professional skin-care brand for the last year. “Times have changed and women used to get skin-care advice from Oprah,” said Jerrold Rauchwerger, chief executive officer of FSR Beauty Ltd, the manufacturer and distributor of Altchek MD. “Now the number-one influencer is the derm — so the timing is perfect.” Altchek MD is the first dermatologist skin-care line at Kohl’s. Rauchwerger said the brand caught the attention of the retailer’s top management as they put a bigger push into beauty. In the last year, Kohl’s has added more than 30 brands, boosted the training and count of beauty advisers and totally overhauled the physical appearance of the department.
