Accessories Council Honors FIT Accessory, Jewelry Programs

Class council: On Monday evening, members of the Accessories Council gathered to honor the Fashion Institute of Technology’s accessory and jewelry programs with a Hall of Fame Award. On hand to accept the distinction was FIT president Dr. Joyce Brown, who said that the evening was “a very important honor for the college.” “The accessories program and our jewelry program have made great strides in recent years,” she said. “We have extremely talented students and the support of the Accessories Council is a real badge of recognition and support. “It’s very important that the student’s work is recognized; They work very, very hard and they are very talented. It’s very hard to get in to any of the programs, so if we are able to give them scholarships and support to help them get placed in the industry I think it’s a win for everyone.” Brown also noted that the two programs have recently revamped their curriculums and that the school is currently in the process of building out new laboratory and design facilities for its majors with the Accessories Council’s help.
