Chanel Hosts Dinner for Tribeca Film Festival

Everything Chanel does comes with at least a tinge of spectacle. Such was the case on Monday night, where a particularly touristy tract of New York’s SoHo was blocked off by metal barricades and a fleet of NYPD officers. No, Obama wasn’t in town. It wasn’t even for Karl. It was for the brand’s annual TFF Artists Dinner, thrown to support the Tribeca Film Festival and celebrate the artists of this year and years past. Uniqlo Launches Footwear

TOKYO–Uniqlo is branching out into the world of footwear. The Fast Retailing-controlled chain will start selling two sneaker models- one slip-on variety and one lace-up type- in its Japanese stores starting next month. Uniqlo said it is logical for the brand to move into shoes given its recent diversification push into accessories like bags and scarves. Uniqlo said the canvas sneakers, which will retail for 2,990 yen (or $25) plus tax, will come in five color variations. The brand, owned by Asia’s largest apparel retailer, said the shoes feature cushioning to absorb shock and rubber soles with good traction.

Nada Lantz Krasnow, founder and chief executive officer of Lantz-a-Lot Inc., Cosmetic Architects, died April 13 at her home in Palm Beach following a year-long battle with cancer. Lantz Krasnow was 53. Born in Toronto, Lantz Krasnow moved to the U.S. in 1974. She began her cosmetics career more than 27 years ago with L’Oréal and Parfums Stern. In the late Eighties, she worked with then-emerging brand La Prairie. Lantz Krasnow established her own consulting and distribution business called Lantz-a-Lot Inc. in 1997, initially focusing on establishing European niche prestige brands in skin care, body and hair in the U.S. “When she started her company, she had worked with La Prairie for many years,” said Nadia Yousif, Lantz Krasnow’s sister. “She took some time off and she went to Europe and she said, ‘Why are all these amazing brands here and not in the U.S.?’ So her idea was to bring brands to the U.S. It wasn’t a distributor model, it was a management model and she introduced companies to the right buyers.” Today, her initial concept has organically evolved to encompass full-brand management, training and retail marketing. Lantz Krasnow has been involved with numerous brands, beauty category launches and expansions. To name a
